Loveland resident Jennifer Coll gladly sipped from a mug of tea Monday morning. It was the first time in three days she was allowed to drink warm beverages after being hit in the face with a flying sledgehammer.
Coll was driving northbound on Taft Hill Road on her way to work about 7:30 a.m. Friday when out of the corner of her eye, she saw what she thought was a monkey wrench “twirling, whirling and rotating” toward her 2006 Toyota Scion.
Then came the explosion. Then excruciating pain.
Coll said she was able to safely navigate away from traffic. Then she waited for a break in traffic, grabbed a box of Kleenex to stem the bleeding and tried to flag for help.
