Two teenagers, suspected of pointing a gun at a high school student to steal an SUV, were arrested Monday when police stopped the vehicle packed with eight juveniles.

The car jacking happened at about 6:40 p.m. Thursday when a 17-year-old was robbed of his vehicle, at gunpoint by two males, as he gassed up at a convenience store at 5805 E. Palmer Park Blvd., according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.

The victim, who was not injured, called 911 immediately to report that his 1998 Toyota 4-Runner had been stolen.

Sheriff’s deputies checked the area but could not find suspects or the SUV.

At about 3:15 p.m. Monday, Colorado Springs police stopped the Toyota, after a short pursuit, with eight juveniles inside it, the sheriff’s office said.

All of the juveniles were taken into custody and police arrested a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old as suspects in the car jacking.

Both suspects are suspected of aggravated robbery, aggravated motor vehicle theft, and menacing. They were booked into the Spring Creek Juvenile Detention Center.
