A water pipe break in Aurora early this morning will knot traffic for some commuters.

The break, of a 24-inch pipe, happened at about 3:45 a.m. on East Iliff Avenue between Sable Boulevard and Chambers Road, said Greg Baker, an Aurora Water Department spokesman.

One traffic lane is open in each direction but officials suggest alternate routes and drivers should avoid the area if possible.

A crew of six workers have been repairing the line since the rupture was reported and the work should be finished at about 10 a.m., Baker said.
