Denver Post president and chief executive Jerry Grilly was presented Thursday with the Board Award from the Rocky Mountain Indian Chamber of Commerce.
The award “exemplifies traditional Native (American) values of respect, honesty, reciprocity and humility,” said Dee St. Cyr, chairwoman of the chamber.
The award was presented at the chamber’s annual American Indian Scholars Gala.
St. Cyr said Grilly was honored for his and The Post’s support of the chamber and its scholarship program through donations, resources and sponsorships.
She noted that Grilly is the first non-Native American to receive the award.
“In the Native community, it’s all about giving and expecting nothing in return,” St. Cyr said. “That’s what Jerry has done for years, and nobody has ever known.”
