Frontier Airlines’ staffing levels in Denver will be reduced by about 100 positions in the next few weeks.
“Many of the reductions will be accomplished through attrition,” airline spokesman Peter Kowalchuk said Friday. “Already about 40 percent of the total number” have been done by not filling open positions.
Kowalchuk said the affected positions at Denver International Airport “are across the board in customer service.”
Letters also went out Thursday to Frontier employees at DIA asking for leave-of-absence volunteers. Volunteers also are being sought to move from full- to part-time work. Kowalchuk said several have agreed.
On Thursday, Frontier filed notice in Wisconsin that it plans to chop 120 positions at its Milwaukee hub in January.
Bryan Bedford, chief executive of Frontier parent company Republic Airways, said this week that Frontier’s $120 million financial restructuring is nearly complete and Frontier could be sold or spun off as soon as this spring.
