Four people were stabbed in the alley of a west Denver apartment complex early Tuesday evening, Denver police said.

Three of the people who were stabbed suffered critical injuries.

A fifth person was detained for questioning. Neither that person nor the victims were named.

“We are stopping just short of calling this person a suspect at this point, but this person is in custody,” police spokesman John White said.

He did not know the ages or genders of the people involved. The altercation happened at about 6 p.m. at Mimosa Manor, 1080 S. Eliot St., a block east of South Federal Boulevard and a block north of West Mississippi Avenue.

The apartment complex, which has 40 units, is the same one where 32-year-old Crystal R. Crespin was stabbed to death Aug. 7. Neighbors helped restrain Roberto Santistevan, 53, until police arrived.

Santistevan is being held without bail on charges of first-degree murder, menacing and burglary.
