Firefighters were called to the downtown Denver Public Library this afternoon when repair work on the roof sparked a small fire.
Black smoke could be seen coming from a side-roof at about 2:15 p.m. but had diminished by 2:30 p.m.
Phil Champagne, Denver Fire spokesman, said that the fire was quickly extinquished and there was no damage.
Material in a bucket on the roof overheated and caused the smoke, said Asst. Chief Steven Schauer.
No one was injured and the library was not evacuated or closed during the accident.
