Fort Collins police arrested a man and woman allegedly involved in a drive-by shooting on Tuesday, after their vehicle was spotted leaving a mobile home park.

At 2:30 p.m., officers arrested Blossom Eva Sanchez 21 of Ault, and Luis Daniel Gomez, 22 of Fort Collins, according to a news release from Fort Collins Police Services.

They face multiple charges of first-degree assault and felony menacing.

At 12:15 p.m., Sanchez and Gomez allegedly started arguing with one of the victims at a Wal-Mart at 1250 E. Magnolia St. Sanchez and Gomez were seen throwing rocks at the victim in the parking lot, before leaving in Sanchez’s 1998 gold Mercury Sable. The victim and a friend walked away from the store.

The argument appears to be gang related.

Half an hour later, the victims, two teenage boys, spotted the Sable at Elizabeth and Stover streets. A verbal fight started and Gomez allegedly got out of the car and fired a .45 caliber handgun four to six times at the teenagers.

Sanchez and Gomez took off in the Sable. The nearby Laurel Elementary School was placed on a soft lockout, during which the doors were locked but people continued to enter and exit the building.

Later that afternoon, the gold Sable was seen leaving a mobile home park in the 4400 block of East Mulberry St., before traveling east on Highway 14. Officers stopped the vehicle, and arrested Sanchez and Gomez. An unidentified 25-year-old man was also detained for questioning.

Authorities later found a .45 caliber handgun at Gomez’s home at 4412 E. Mulberry St.

The case is still under investigation and anyone with information about this incident should contact Detective Scott Crumbaker at 970-416-2271.
