Getting your player ready...

ST. PAUL, Minn. — When once there was great promise, there is now great worry with the Avalanche. The team’s fast start has evaporated, replaced by a team that will come home today with a record two games under .500.

The Avs fell that way after losing 1-0 to the Minnesota Wild on Thursday night at Xcel Energy Center. Despite outplaying the Wild most of the night and getting some power-play chances in the third period, the Avs failed to get anything past Wild veteran goalie Nik Backstrom.

Devin Setoguchi scored with 2:21 left in the game, when a Dany Heatley pass deflected off the skates of Erik Johnson, right to the open right side where Setoguchi put it home.

The Avs, 1-6-1 in their last eight games, will start an eight-game homestand Friday night against Dallas.
