COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Colorado Springs police say a new law designed to protect tow truck drivers doesn’t apply to a man hit by a truck while trying to tow a vehicle.

Daniel Lande says he suffered a broken pelvis and other injuries when he was hit by a truck Monday night.

Under the Allen Rose Law named after a tow truck driver killed while trying to tow a vehicle, drivers are not allowed to interfere with a tow truck driver’s job. Drivers must also pull over to the furthest lane when a vehicle is being towed.

Police Lt. Thomas Harris tells KRDO-TV ( ) motorists had no room to move to the left and slow down. Harris says investigators believe it was just an accident.
