COLORADO SPRINGS — A Louisiana fugitive has been arrested in the Oct. 25 beating and rape of a 12-year-old girl who was attacked while walking to the school bus stop near her home, Colorado Springs police said Thursday.
Leonard Palmer and another convict escaped from a Louisiana prison and both were captured in Colorado Springs in late October. Palmer, who was arrested the night of the rape, had been extradited to Louisiana before being linked to the girl’s rape.
The girl was walking to the school bus stop in the 400 block of East Brookside Street off South Nevada Avenue when a man pulled her into an alley and assaulted her, according to the police.
