FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Firefighters were unable to trace the source of an odor that prompted the evacuation of a Fort Collins middle school and the transport of 15 students to a hospital.
Poudre Fire Authority spokesman Patrick Love says the students, and one adult, reported symptoms that included headache, nausea, vomiting and watery eyes. Firefighters received the call at about 12:30 p.m. Friday.
A hazardous materials team immediately investigated reports that the odor had come from a laboratory, but found nothing. All students transported to Poudre Valley Hospital have been released.
Firefighters left about five hours later after searching for a cause and ventilating the building. School employees were remaining at the school overnight to monitor the building.
Firefighters may return again Saturday to search for the source.
