Crested Butte starts its 50th season on Wednesday, and as a birthday present to its fans, skiing and riding is free Wednesday. No strings attached, though you have to check in at the Adventure Center to get a lift ticket. The resort expects to have three lifts and two magic carpets running to access about 70 acres.
To sweeten the season, the resort is offering a free lift ticket on anyone’s birthday during the winter season (participants must be 18 or older with a valid photo ID to prove date of birth). During Wednesday’s birthday bash, there will be games throughout the day and concerts in the afternoon.
