Some of Denver’s finest welcomed the anticipated official opening of the Clyfford Still Museum on Friday night. In 2004, Denver won the bid to provide a home for Still’s paintings in a beautifully designed structure, built specifically for his work alone. The museum, fittingly located next to the Denver Art Museum, opened its doors for a week-long celebration of private viewings, a public grand ceremony and “En Route Denver” on Friday night. The party, which closed out the festivities in time for the museum’s first full day on Saturday, allowed some well-dressed guests the opportunity to browse the museum and mingle in a large tent behind the museum. The celebration reached its climax during an hour long performance from Denver’s own , with spirited melodies that even enticed Bannock Street onlookers to linger and dance for a while.
