An Occupy Colorado Springs protester was arrested this afternoon when he and others followed police orders to remove tables from Acacia Park.

The tables violate a Colorado Springs city ordinance, police said. Protesters moved the tables about a block south to the front of City Hall.

When they were told to move the tables again, they moved them a few feet to a grassy area, police said.

Nicholas Galetka, 23, said he owned the tables and was taken into custody on a permit violation, police said. The tables were taken as evidence, according to the police blotter.

Galetka has been arrested several times in El Paso County, records show, including drug, menacing and burglary charges.

Police removed other prohibited structures from Acacia Park at about 1 a.m. today, as about 50 protesters stood by, the agency reported.

They had ignored previous requests and warnings to remove the items, the department stated.

Denver and other police departments across the country have enforced rules about camping, tables and other personal property left in public parks.
