Some popular state parks and fisheries have announced seasonal closures beginning this week.

Cherry Creek State Park closes to boating tonight at 6 p.m. because of the seasonal closure of the aquatic nuisance species vessel inspection stations. The reservoir will be closed to motorized and nonmotorized vessels until March 2, weather permitting.

Spinney Mountain State Park officially closed for the season Sunday after cold temperatures iced over the reservoir. The park will reopen in the spring when the ice melts. Because of the reservoir’s fluctuating water levels that create unstable ice conditions, the reservoir is closed to ice fishing.

Nearby Eleven Mile State Park will remain open throughout the winter, offering winter camping, as well as ice fishing when conditions permit. Water levels at Eleven Mile Reservoir have been good all year and the reservoir is expected to remain at spillway elevation throughout the winter.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife continues to stock Eleven Mile Reservoir with trout.

The Gold Medal fishery on the South Platte River between Spinney and Eleven Mile is relatively ice-free, so late-season anglers still have an opportunity to get in some late-season fly fishing.
