DENVER—Denver’s former safety manager says police in Denver accept officers roughing up suspects as long as the injuries aren’t too severe.
Al LaCabe told the Civil Service Commission on Thursday that few officers get violent, but officers rarely report those who do.
The comments came during a hearing on the firing of a police officer over a beating that left a 16-year-old with a damaged liver and kidney.
Police union president Nick Rogers tells the Denver Post ( ) the officer knows nothing about Denver’s police culture and called the statements baseless.
