DENVER—Metropolitan State College has delayed a decision on changing the school’s name for at least 30 more days.

Trustees decided on the new delay Thursday after getting a report on from a research firm that conducted internet surveys and interviews with students, alumni, faculty, staff and community leaders.

The school is considering four names: Denver Metropolitan State University, Metropolitan Denver State University, Denver State Metropolitan University and Metropolitan State University of Denver.

Any change would have to be approved by the Legislature.

Earlier this year, the school asked the Legislature for permission to change the name to Denver State University, but it withdrew the request after University of Denver officials said it was too similar to their name.

Metro State has 24,000 students and offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
