FOUNTAIN, Colo.—A Fountain man was killed in an early morning mobile home fire Monday, but his wife and two young children escaped.
The Gazette reports that two neighboring home also burned, but those residents escaped ().
The man who died was not immediately named.
Fountain Fire Chief Darin Anstine told newspaper that the man’s wife smelled smoke and woke up at about 2 a.m. He said four family members fled the home, but the husband returned to get his wife’s keys and purse. Firefighters found his body at the rear of the home.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Anstine said the home did not have a working smoke detector.
