Gasoline prices took a tumble in Denver the past week, dropping 5.9 cents a gallon to an average of $3.23 a gallon, according to the gasoline price website .
Nationally, prices fell 2.6 cents per gallon to an average of $3.29 a gallon.
Denver gasoline prices on Sunday were 62.5 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 18.2 cents per gallon lower than a month ago.
“Even as oil and gasoline futures rallied after strong Black Friday sales reports and a drop in unemployment, retail gasoline prices have moved lower,” said Patrick DeHaan, a senior petroleum analysts at .
But DeHaan added that stronger retail spending may cause gasoline prices to rise slightly as the year comes to end, similar to what happened last year.
