Early-season winter gear sales for a second year in a row are tracking toward a record.
Retail data from SnowSports Industries America and The Leisure Trends Group show snow-sports equipment and apparel sales up 14 percent in dollars and 7 percent in units sold between August and October of this year.
Total snow-sports sales for the period reached $644 million, compared with $565 million last year, which was a record.
Last season marked a record for the snow-sports market, with $3.3 billion in gear, accessory and apparel sales for the 2010-11 ski season.
