BRUSSELS — Russia’s threats to install countermeasures against a planned missile-defense system in Europe reflect a “fundamental misunderstanding” of the West’s intentions, NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said Wednesday.
“NATO’s position is clear,” Rasmussen said following a meeting of NATO foreign ministers. “We need missile defense for our own security.”
