Colorado’s Ryan Miller, a senior offensive lineman for the Buffaloes, on Thursday was named a second-team All-American by the Walter Camp Football Foundation, the school said.
Miller — a 6-foot-8, 295-pound guard — set a school record for most career games started with 48. The former standout at Columbine High in Littleton allowed just five sacks in 3,320 plays over his career at CU.
“It sure feels good. I feel honored and I am very thankful to have played five seasons in front of all the Buff fans at Folsom Field and for coach Embree this year,” Miller said in a release. “It’s been an honor and pleasure.”
Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck was named Walter Camp player of the year after he threw for 3,170 yards and a school-record 35 touchdowns as a senior. He helped lead No. 4 Stanford to an 11-1 record and a bid to play No. 3 Oklahoma State in the Fiesta Bowl.
He highlighted the first team, along with Alabama junior running back Trent Richardson and LSU sophomore cornerback Tyrann Mathieu.
Alabama, which will play LSU in the BCS title game, had the most players chosen for the first team with four. Stanford had three, LSU two. Players from 19 schools and six conferences made up the first team.
The Walter Camp team is chosen by coaches and sports information directors from the 120 FBS teams.
