Western State is adding two intercollegiate athletic programs for the 2012-13 academic year — women’s soccer and women’s swimming and diving.

Women’s soccer will compete in the RMAC schedule beginning in fall 2013, as the 2012 conference schedule has already been approved by the athletic directors and President’s Council. Women’s swimming and diving will begin competition in the RMAC in the winter of 2012-13.

Two players join CSU volleyball.

The Colorado State volleyball team added two more players to its 2012 roster: Jaime Colaizzi, a senior at Windsor High School, and Anastassia Koutchouk, who is currently attending high school at Lycee Saint Pierre in Calais, France. Both student-athletes will attend CSU in the fall.

Lawrence named CGA president.

Tom Lawrence, the CEO and president of the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame for almost nine years, became president of the Colorado Golf Association this week. The 57-year-old succeeds Jim Magette.

Wyoming’s Burns honored.

Wyoming defensive back Blair Burns has earned a spot on ‘s freshman All-America team.

Burns, who hails from Plano, Texas, has tallied 48 tackles (35 solo), four interceptions and 1 1/2 tackles for loss (minus-4 yards) through 12 games in 2011.

Pueblo’s Colletti ninth-round winner.

Casey Colletti of Pueblo won the ninth round of the bareback riding competition at the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas.
