GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—Mesa County administrators plan to sell an administration building and consolidate services to save money.
County Administrator Chantal Unfug says the building is no longer needed because the county is opening a new central-services building next month.
Unfug tells the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel ( ) that workers in the new building will be trained to handle multiple responsibilities and fewer employees will be needed.
County spokeswoman Jessica Peterson says the building to be sold is the one where planning and public works employees are now located. She said the main administration building, the old county courthouse, isn’t for sale.
The county now has about 960 full-time positions. That’s down from 1,030 positions in 2009.
