DENVER—A committee of the Regional Transportation District board is supporting a plan to redevelop Denver Union Station with restaurants at street level and a hotel on the upper floors.
The Denver Post reports () the committee voted 9-5 Tuesday to recommend that the full board approve the proposal.
The full board is expected to vote on the proposal Dec. 20 to transform the historic building into a hotel affiliated with the Oxford Hotel.
The plan by Union Station Alliance beat out an alternative by Union Station Neighborhood Co., which is developing the 19.5 acres surrounding the station. The alternative also would have included restaurants and retail but would have kept the second floor as office space and used the third floor for mechanical systems.
