ST. CLOUD, MINN. — Nick Jensen scored three goals to lead St. Cloud State to a 5-1 win over Denver on Saturday and a split of their Western Collegiate Hockey Association series.

Jensen scored the Huskies’ (7-9-4, 5-6-3) first three goals, leading to a 3-1 lead just 21 seconds into the second period.

Cory Thorson and Brooks Bertsch also scored for St. Cloud State, which was outshot 37-31. Jensen’s second goal at 13:04 of the first period and Thorson’s at 17:39 of the second came on the power play.

Ryan Faragher made 36 saves for the Huskies, including 18 in the second period.

Juho Olkinuora made 26 saves for the Pioneers (8-7-3, 6-5-3), who got their only goal from Shawn Ostrow late in the first period.

Denver beat the Huskies 3-2 in overtime on Friday.

Colorado College 6, Minnesota State 2

MANKATO, MINN. — Rylan Schwartz had two goals and an assist to lead the Tigers.

Schwartz scored on the power play in the first quarter and even-strength in the second. He assisted on William Rapuzzi’s empty-netter late in the third for the Tigers (11-5-0, 9-5-0).

Michael Boivin and Eamonn McDermott also had power-play goals for Colorado College.

J.P. Lafontaine and Michael Dorr scored goals for the Mavericks (5-14-1, 2-11-1).

The Tigers had 44 shots on goal to 26 by MSUM. Mavericks goalie Austin Lee made 38 saves, while Colorado College’s Josh Thorimbert stopped 24 shots.
