Jason Regier of Centennial, Adam Scaturro of Lakewood and Chance Sumner of Denver were named to the 19-man roster of the U.S. Paralympic wheelchair rugby national team.
The team eventually will be cut to 12 members before competing at the 2012 Paralympic Games in London.
Team USA is the defending world and Paralympic champion in wheelchair rugby, having defeated Australia for gold medals at the 2010 world championships in Great Britain and at the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing.
Car crash kills Regis Jesuit alum. R.J. Demps, a member of Regis Jesuit’s 2009 state championship boys basketball team, died in a single-car automobile accident Wednesday morning while en route to Kansas City (Mo.) International Airport to return home for Christmas. A third-year sophomore guard for Benedictine College in Atchison, Kan., Demps would have turned 21 on Friday. Demps also attended Grandview and Smoky Hill high schools.
