Trombone Shorty had a breakout year in 2011, and the New Orleans born-and-bred horn blower will set up shop at the Bluebird Theater for two nights next week. Shorty (real name Troy Andrews) and his lively backing band, Orleans Avenue, were a favorite at the recent FMQB Triple A radio conference in Boulder, arguably stealing the show from The Dude, himself, Jeff Bridges. Yonder Mountain String Band may be addicted to Colorado, picking and shredding night after night (after night … after night) all over the state. Yes, the bluegrass boys will play not one, but four consecutive nights at the Boulder Theater to round out 2011. This is a relatively intimate venue for a band that can draw thousands to the likes of Red Rocks and Bonnaroo.
