Mountain resorts in the West enjoyed a 4.5 percent increase in lodging occupancy in November, compared with the same month last year.

The monthly survey of 265 hotels and lodges at 15 Western U.S. mountain destinations in four states by the Mountain Travel Research Program, or MTRiP, also showed the average daily rate increasing 4.6 percent in November.

Reservations also are up, with December bookings pacing 11.3 percent ahead of last December. For the remainder of the ski season, bookings are up 10.4 percent from the same period last year, with double-digit percentage increases every month except March.
