Broomball Challenge
Jan. 10-Feb. 9: Broomball, a sport similar to ice hockey but played in sneakers, invites groups of friends, businesses, alumni associations and others to form a team. This is not a tournament or league, it’s a one-time game. A team requires 6 to 12 adults age 18 and older. Six players are on the ice at all times and there must be at least two women on each team. Each game consists of two 20-minute halves with a five-minute halftime. Games are at 7:30, 8:30 and 9:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays Jan. 10-Feb. 9. Winter Meltdown Challenge
Registration deadline Jan. 19: The Lafayette Recreation Department is sponsoring an eight-week community challenge to lose weight and form healthy fitness habits. There are two participation levels to choose from including a Nutrition Only Level and a Fitness/Nutrition Level. Fees vary. Jan. 9: Denver YMCA has received a grant from the Colorado Health Foundation for another program geared at promoting healthy eating and living for ages 7-13.
