Colorado Public Radio today announced its 2012 season of live concert broadcasts, beginning Friday.
CPR will broadcast three full-length performances by The Colorado Symphony and three complete performances by Opera Colorado. Interviews with artists and performances will be included during intermissions.
Charley Samson will serve as radio host on Friday at 7:30 p.m. from Boettcher Concert Hall, featuring the CSO with guest violinist Karen Gomyo. The program includes performances of Mussorgsky’s “Dawn on the Moskva River,” Shostakovich’s Violin Concerto No. 1 featuring Gomyo, and “Pictures at an Exhibition.”

Saturday, March 24 at 7:30 p.m. – Daniel Catan | “Florencia en el Amazonas” – Opera Colorado
Saturday, April 28 at 7:30 p.m. – Giuseppe Verdi | “Il Trovatore” – Opera Colorado
Saturday, May 12 at 7:30 p.m. – Vaughan Williams | Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis and Symphony No. 1 – The Colorado Symphony
Friday, June 1 at 7:30 p.m. – Mahler | Symphony No. 3 – The Colorado Symphony
The expanded season is expected to continue into the early fall.
