LINCOLN, Neb.—Coach John Cook says outside hitter Taylor Simpson has left the Nebraska volleyball program to pursue other opportunities.

Cook said in a statement Tuesday that he has released Simpson from her letter of intent so she can transfer to another school and be eligible to play in the fall. Cook said Simpson would be missed.

The 6-foot-3 Simpson appeared in 12 of Nebraska’s 30 matches her freshman season and recorded 13 kills.

The native of Colorado Springs came to Nebraska after being named one of the top 10 players in the country by Prepvolleyball.com in 2010. She was the Colorado high school player of the year as a junior in 2009.
