The 34th Citizen of the West Dinner, honoring Lynne Cheney, was just as much a treat for the eyes as it was for the treasury of the National Western Scholarship Trust.
The 800 guests were decked out in their Western wear, and the finery ranged from the embellished leather gowns worn by Miss Rodeo America, Miss Rodeo Colorado and Miss Rodeo Wyoming, to the boot-shaped studs that fastened the tuxedo shirt worn by Cheney’s brother, Bruce Vincent of Houston.
For the occasion, the National Western Events Center was decorated with hanging lights, red rose centerpieces and a giant, multi-screen slide show that featured magnificent panoramas of the Rocky Mountains and Grand Tetons.
