Wilco’s “The Whole Love” made more than a few year-end lists last month, and the Chicago sextet will bring a mix of its new and old material to Denver’s Fillmore Auditorium on Thursday. Wilco’s recent output continues to show a slowly aging band, though the group’s live act remains one of the best in all of rock ‘n’ roll. Plan for more than 20 songs, two to three well-deserved encores and massive sing-alongs to complex, challenging lyrics. All of this, plus some good, old-fashioned shred from lead guitarist Nels Cline. Tickets are sold out, but try your luck outside the door.
Nurses is a name you might see more after March’s South by Southwest festival in Austin. The Portland, Ore., indie-rock band generated buckets of buzz from the release of its fall 2011 record, “Dracula.” Like its contemporaries, Nurses relies on ’80s tropes and defers accessible structures for layered, electro-heavy compositions. There are hooks, sure, but they’re more abrasive than pleasant — and yet it works. Tickets for Sunday’s show at the Hi-Dive, presented by Reverb, are $10 through .
