GEORGETOWN, Colo.—Colorado Department of Transportation officials say this is the time of year when ski traffic on Interstate 70 starts rising.

CDOT Regional Transportation Director Tony DeVito says plan on seeing more traffic on the mountain highways, not just this weekend as people take advantage of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, but for the next two to three months.

CDOT was expecting westbound traffic on I-70 to be heavier than normal Friday and Saturday. Heavier-than-normal eastbound I-70 traffic is expected Sunday and Monday, especially between Vail and the Denver area.
