A woman has been arrested in connection with a Target robbery in Sheridan earlier this week in which a security guard was pepper sprayed.

The woman, identified as Brittany Burton-Zamora, 28, was charged with six charges ranging from robbery and assault to conspiracy.

The robbery happened Tuesday at about 2:45 p.m.

A man and woman were seen inside the store shoplifting electronics, Police Chief Mark Campbell said. When a security officer approached them near the exit, a third person came from outside the store and pepper-sprayed the officer.

Six people were affected by the pepper spray, including one who was transported to a hospital as a precaution, according to the Denver Fire Department.

The two men and a woman, all in their 20s, got away in a maroon Kia four-door with handicapped Florida license plates with the number Z7AKZ.

Sheridan Police Department detectives were able to identify the woman, and forwarded the information to Denver Police. They located Burton-Zamora and took her into custody, turning her over to Sheridan Police.

The investigation is continuing for the two suspects who are still at large.

A similar incident happened Sunday in Denver at the Walmart Supercenter at 7700 W. Quincy Ave., when two men attempted to mace a security guard during an attempted shoplifting. The vehicle in that case is not as specific, but similar.

Sheridan Police chief Mark Campbell said it is too soon to know if the two incidents are related.
