The Metro State women’s basketball team swept the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference player of the week awards Monday. Caley Dow was honored for her offense and Kristin Valencia for her defense.
Dow, a 6-foot-2 senior center from Arapahoe High School, averaged 16.0 points and 11.5 rebounds in two victories for the Roadrunners last week.
Valencia, a 5-10 junior guard from Moriarty, N.M., contributed a total of 12 rebounds (10 defensive), two steals and two blocked shots.
• Adams State’s Jamiko Verner, a 5-11 senior guard from Denver East, was named the defensive player of the week in RMAC men’s basketball. Verner had 10 steals in two victories for the Grizzlies. He ranks second nationally in Division II steals, averaging 3.8.
