The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is hosting a series of meetings in conjunction with the public comment period open through Feb. 24 on various management alternatives for the San Luis Valley National Wildlife Refuge Complex over the next 15 years. The complex includes Baca National Wildlife Refuge, Monte Vista National Wildlife Refuge and the Alamosa National Wildlife Refuge, totaling more than 106,000 acres that provide important habitat for nesting, migrating and wintering birds as well as many species of mammals. Four management alternatives will be presented for comments. The meetings are scheduled as follows:
• Monday: 6:30-8:30 p.m., Alamosa County Building, 8900 Independence Way, Room 108, Alamosa.
• Tuesday: 6:30-8:30 p.m., Monte Vista Co-op Community Room, 1901 E. Highway 160, Monte Vista.
• Jan. 25: 6:30-8:30 p.m., Moffat School, 501 Garfield Ave., Moffat.
