DURANGO, Colo.—A coroner says a 25-year-old Denver woman who died after falling and sliding 1,500 feet at Silverton Mountain may have had a ski pop off.
The Durango Herald reports ( ) Sydney Elizabeth Owens died Jan. 14 of blunt force trauma. County Coroner Keri Metzler said Thursday that one of Owens’ skis may have popped off, preventing her from stopping herself.
Four people have died after visiting Colorado resorts this season. A man died in November after an accident at Vail, the same day that a snowboarder died after hitting a tree at Breckenridge. Owens died last weekend. A snowboarder died Wednesday after hitting a tree at Aspen Highlands.
Outside the boundaries of Snowmass, a skier was caught in an avalanche and died Wednesday.
