JACKSON, Wyo. — Authorities say a Colorado man has been rescued after getting lost while backcountry skiing on the west slope of the Tetons.
The Jackson Hole News & Guide reported that 60-year-old Ernie Moscovics was rescued by a helicopter search crew Friday.
His hometown wasn’t available.
His companions called the Teton County Sheriff’s Department volunteer search-and-rescue team when Moscovics became separated from the group in a blizzard Thursday.
The helicopter crew found him by following his tracks. Search coordinator Doug Meyer said that when search-and-rescue volunteers exited the helicopter, they sank into chin-deep snow.
Authorities say Moscovics was exhausted and dehydrated but otherwise unhurt. The Associated Press
