Law enforcement officials in New Mexico think a man wanted on suspicion of a double shooting this afternoon might be headed to Colorado.
The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Department said a teenaged boy was found dead and woman was shot in the head at the home of Arthur Anaya, south of Santa Fe near Interstate 25.
They have not been named, and investigators have not characterized their relationship to Anaya.
Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Major Ken Johnson said Anaya has family in Colorado.
Public records show Anaya lived in Colorado Springs in the early 1990s. He was arrested five times in El Paso County between 1991 and 1994 on charges that include domestic violence, assault, obstruction of justice, failure to appear and being a fugitive from justice in New Mexico.
Investigators haven’t determined how Anaya might be traveling. Anaya sometimes uses the first name Arturo, and he is described as 5 feet, 6 inches tall, 190 pounds with graying hair.
He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a brown jacket with a blue collar and prescription eye glasses.
Public records indicate he has an extensive criminal history, including battery of a household member, armed assault, armed robbery, battery on a police officer and other charges.
Anyone with information about his whereabouts can call their local law enforcement by dialing 911 or the Santa Fe County, N.M., Sheriff’s Department at 505-986-2400.
