AURORA, Colo.—A man who encountered armed clerks during two attempted Aurora liquor store robberies within minutes of each other has been convicted of several charges.

A jury Thursday convicted 39-year-old Henry Lee James of attempted aggravated robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery and four counts of felony menacing following a three day trial.

Authorities say James and co-defendant Marcel McMichael encountered the armed clerks on Sept. 22, 2010. At one store, authorities say James fired a shot into the ceiling as he and McMichael fled. At another store, a clerk pulled out a gun and shot both suspects as they fled.

James will be sentenced May 11.

Earlier this month, a judge sentenced McMichael to 44 years in prison.
