Winds in the foothills could gust up to 50 mph — and as high as 40 mph along the Colorado-Wyoming border this evening.
Along the Front Range corridor from Castle Rock to Fort Collins , winds between 15 mph and 25 mph are expected until early evenings, before calming to about 8 mph this evening, according to the National Weather Service.
Gusts along the foothills will be higher, forecasters said.
The high temperature in Denver today was set at 2:55 p.m. at 54 degrees, about 10 degrees warmer than the 30-year average for the date.
Unseasonably warm temperatures are expected to continue Monday with a forecast high of 64 degrees. The record for the date is 71 degrees set in 1888, according to the National Weather Service
A high of 64 Monday would be the third-highest temperature so far this year, following a high of 66 on Jan. 21 and 65 on Jan . 5, according to weather records.
Denver has had five days in the 60s this month and nine other days with highs in the 50s. Average daily highs for January in the city are about 44 degrees.
The average of Denver’s daily high temperatures this month has been almost 6 degrees degrees warmer than the long-range average for January. The city has received 4.9 inches of snow, compared to the average of 7 inches for the month. Most of that snow, 3.2 inches, fell on Jan. 11. the only day this month that recorded more than a half-inch of snow at Denver International Airport in a 24-hour period.
Warm weather continues Tuesday and Wednesday in Denver, with highs near 49 degrees each day.
Seasonal highs in the mid-40s are expected Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in Denver.
The northern mountains are expected to see highs in the 30s and 40s this week, with slight chances of snow Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
The central mountains have snow chances between 20 and 40 percent each night until Friday , with highs in the 20s each day, according to the National Weather Service.
