CRAIG, Colo.—The Memorial Hospital at Craig and its satellite facilities plan to ban smoking on their properties starting this summer.

The Craig Daily Press reports () that the hospital board has unanimously approved the final draft of a plan to prohibit tobacco use on hospital grounds starting July 1.

Smoking is already prohibited within a short distance outside a hospital. The new policy would mean visitors, patients, staff or doctors will have to be completely off hospital property to smoke.

Chief Executive Officer George Rohrich says the decision to ban tobacco use on hospital grounds is in the best interest of people’s health.
