COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—A Colorado woman has been arrested on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder and child abuse after her toddler was found wandering in fields between Colorado Springs and Pueblo.
El Paso County sheriff’s investigators say 28-year-old Nyesha Hall-Gonzalez’s son was found Saturday with minor scratches on his legs.
The Colorado Springs Gazette reported Monday () that an arrest warrant affidavit claims Hall-Gonzalez told deputies she left her son wrapped in her coat under a pile of tumbleweeds and that he was probably dead.
A state trooper had reported seeing a woman holding a toddler near Interstate 25 Saturday morning. About 2 1/2 hours later, deputies received a report of a woman wearing a nightgown wandering in the area.
Deputies questioned the woman and a search was launched.
