BOULDER, Colo.—Jurors have begun deliberating in the trial of a man accused of fatally shooting a University of New Hampshire football player in Boulder.

Lawyers delivered closing arguments in the case against Kevin McGregor of Longmont Wednesday.

The Boulder Daily Camera reports () jurors adjourned at about 5 p.m. without reaching a verdict. Deliberations are to resume Thursday.

McGregor is accused of shooting 20-year-old Todd Walker of Edwards in a botched robbery attempt near the University of Colorado. He is charged with first-degree murder, felony murder and other violations.

McGregor has said he got into a confrontation with Walker after he whistled at a woman who was with Walker. McGregor says he fired a warning shot into the air. He says they then struggled over the gun and it fired accidentally.
