In a narrow vote, the University of Colorado regents voted Wednesday to support a bill that would give unsubsidized in-state tuition to undocumented students.
Regent Tillie Bishop, R-Grand Junction, voted along with the Democrats to support the resolution that voices the regents’ support of Senate Bill 15.
Bishop has softened his stance since last year, when he said he opposed an earlier version of the legislation.
“We need to stand up and recognize these are young people wanting an education to better themselves,” Bishop said prior to the vote.
The resolution, sponsored by Regent Joe Neguse, D-Boulder, passed 5-4.
