Among the 21 nonroster players the Rockies invited to spring training Thursday are eight players with major-league experience.
Veteran left-handed pitcher Jamie Moyer headlines that list, which also includes former first-round draft pick Brandon Wood, a third baseman/shortstop, and Will Nieves, a veteran catcher who has spent time in the Padres, Yankees, Nationals and Brewers organizations.
Other veterans include infielder Brendan Harris, outfielder Andrew Brown and catcher Wilkin Castillo.
Challenge on board with Morgul Classic. The USA Pro Cycling Challenge will team up with the Superior Morgul Classic, the largest amateur race in Colorado, to help build stronger support for amateur racing with hopes of fostering the next level of professional riders.
The second annual event in Superior from May 18-20 will follow an omnium format, featuring three events: time trial, criterium and road race.
