DENVER—Denver police say a shooting that left one man dead and another injured appears to have involved a man who shot an alleged intruder in his home.
A resident of a home in west Denver told police he awoke around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday to find an intruder in his home. Police say shots struck both men as they struggled over a gun. The alleged intruder died at the scene. The resident was taken to a hospital with wounds to his lower body.
Police say it appears the men knew each other.
Prosecutors will review whether charges are warranted. Colorado law offers protection from prosecution for residents who use deadly physical force against intruders in their homes.
